Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord!

Isaiah 40:31

"But those who WAIT on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint."

The Everlasting God
"Strength will rise as we wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord, we will wait upon the Lord. Our God, you reign forever, our hope, our strong Deliverer. You are the everlasting God, the everlasting God, you do not faint, you wont grow weary!"

So we decided to split the blog up so we each write a part... here we go. We both want to apologize for not keeping up with writing this... we have been going through a lot trying to figure out what we are going to do while we are here.

Hi guys!!! The last several days have been really interesting... We have been spending a lot of time in prayer trying to find out what God wants us to do while we are here. Initially as most of you know, we were going to teach english.. Well that kinda fell through and it looks like that is not going to happen anymore! It was a bummer at first but honestly both Chels and I are flexible and open to do whatever the Lord wants us to do while we are here. We have gotten great opportunity to spend a lot of time in prayer for friends back at home and people we have come into contact with here. Chels and I listened to a series on the book of Ruth by Pastor Mark Driscoll, it was a great series and we learned alot from it (its called Redeeming Ruth on the Mars Hills website). I have also had a great opportunity to read some great books recommended to me (Just Do Something by Kevin De Young and The Gospel and Personal Evangelism by Mark Dever). Check them out! Last night we went to the local park and had the opportunity to pray with people there, eat some yummy yogurt, and get a good work out in! Praise God for the opportunities that we had.
Something that we are going to check out today is a local hospital to see if we can help the nurses and offer up prayer for the patients. There are many stories I could tell on here but I will save them for when I get home! Some discouragement has run our way, but the Lord is so faithful and we are in His hands as we wait upon Him. Please lift us up in prayer! Thanks!!! Dios te bendiga!
En Cristo,
Laurie

Our God is an AWESOME God, He Reigns! The last five days have been less eventful than we expected, and yesterday was probably our roughest day. We have been a little discouraged about not being out in the community serving. But looking back on them, Laurie and I had some precious time together, and with the family. Even though we have not been doing what we expected, I know it's all in Gods plan and His timing. We have had more time in prayer than I think I've had in my whole life ;) (not really)....and its been wonderful listening to online sermons together and reading some great books (shout out to Irresistable Revolution!)
Last evening we were able to finally make it out to the park! We got to run (goodness knows we need the exercise after all these yummy carbs), pray together, eat some yogurt that definitely gives Yogurtland a run for its money (check out delit.com.mx its frozen yogurt mixed with fresh fruit....my mom would love this!! :D) and lastly and more importantly we prayed with some people at the park! It seems that most the people we talked to are Catholic. Its a bummer we are not more fluent in Spanish so we could chat more in depth with them about Jesus....but hopefully praying with them and for them will at the very least stir up questions in their corazons!
We are really looking forward to an opportunity for serving in the "Hospital del Sureste" that our wonderful friend Mickey (Miguel) has dug up for us! God answers prayers! Gloria a Dios! Thanks so much for your prayers, keep prayin for Gods wisdom for Laurie and I!
Dios le Bendiga-

  1. Wow, delit.com.mx yogurt. Please bring some back Mija - you know how I love yogurt and fruit. Share! How encouraging to hear how God is drawing you close to him and to each other. I will continue to pray for his guidance in your lives. Muchos besos.

  2. I'm glad you were able to relocate your little "pets", lol.
On a serious note, I was really stoked to read your guys' blogs tonight. It was truly a blessing, and am really excited to see how God is going to continue opening surprising us this summer.
May your time there be encircled by a constant realization of His presence.
    Mickey.
